Hike at Smallwood State Park   Sunday, March 14, 2010    1:30 - 3:30 PM 
Hike meandering trails through hardwood forest, passing natural and historical points of interest with viewing opportunities for upland and water species of birds and critters.  Bring a picnic lunch. Then meet at 1:30 pm at the picnic area for an easy 3 mile hike. Wear tennis shoes and bring a drink. $3 entry fee (honor system).  Sorry, no pets are allowed in the day use area of the park.  

630 acre Smallwood State Park borders the Mattawoman Creek opposite Indian Head and has a marina, campground, playground, art center, and the historic colonial home of General Smallwood.

Fishing at Smallwood -- large and smallmouth bass, crappie, catfish, white and yellow perch, carp and hardhead. A Chesapeake Bay Sportfishing License is required

DIRECTIONS:Smallwood State Park   2750 Sweden Point Road  Marbury, MD 20658  From Route 210 south towards Indian Head, take a left (east) on Route 225 to Route 224. At the light at Route 224 turn right (south). Park entrance is approximately 3 miles on the right past Bullitt Neck Rd.
